It was about time to pay a counter visit to Prof. Dr. David Magee on behalf of the ESP programme. It was already 3 years ago when Prof. Dr. Magee gave his impressive lecture in Amsterdam for our ESP alumni students. After his introduction to our ESP programme he expressed his admiration about the volume of students in combination with the good content, he invited us back to the University of Alberta, Canada.

So we travelled with 3 lecturers to Canada and combined this visit with the World Parkinson Congress 2013 in Montréal. The best and the latest from Canada for possible implementation in our education. And inspiring it was we got the latest results of the best scientific research and saw a lot of PD patients at the congress, http://www.worldpdcongress.org.

At the University of Alberta we had several meetings to compare our ESP programme to their Master of Physiotherapy programme and came to the conclusion that the curricula do not differ that much. Exchange possibilities for internships, research and lecturers where explored after which we got a private tour lead by Magee in their clinic where doctors, lecturers and students work together to treat the patients.

David Magee:

‘Just a short note to thank you for visiting the University of Alberta & the Glen Sather Clinic. Hopefully we will be able to develop some collaborations that work for all groups.

I also want to thank you for the T-shirt. It is the right size too & I shall wear it with pride.’
