ESP25: 25 Years of World-Class Physios
Where It All Comes Together
On Friday 18 September 2026, the European School of Physiotherapy celebrates 25 years of learning, ambition, international perspective, and community.
ESP25 is not only a reunion. It is a day where the people who built ESP, the alumni who carried it into the world, and the students shaping what comes next meet in one shared programme.
By day, we return to HvA for stories, conversations, workshops, demonstrations, and student-led activity. By night, we move to WestWeelde for welcome drinks, music, surprises, and a proper celebration of 25 years of ESP.
ABOUT ESP25
It’s about the people who brought curiosity, international perspective, and a bit of that ‘lovably weird’ ESP energy into the programme since 2001.
ESP has always been about more than a curriculum. It has been shaped by people who brought curiosity, international perspective, professional ambition, and a little of that unmistakable ESP energy into the programme year after year.
ESP25 is a chance to celebrate that shared history without turning it into nostalgia alone. It is about bringing different generations of the community into one room: the people who helped build the programme, the alumni who carried it into practice around the world, and the students who are shaping what comes next.
This anniversary is designed to feel like ESP itself: thoughtful, international, people-driven, and full of conversation.

FULL SCHEDULE
Morning Welcome | 09:00-09:30
Arrival, coffee, and opening of the ESP25 day on campus. Mireille and Marguerite will welcome guests on campus and serve as the first contact point during arrival and registration.
ESP Then And Now | 09:30-12:30
The morning programme looks at where ESP started, how it developed, and where the programme and profession are heading next. Expect speakers, alumni perspectives, former lecturer moments, and conversations that connect ESP’s history with its future.
Interactive Afternoon | 13:30-16:30
Current students, alumni, lecturers, clinical partners, and invited guests move from the speaker format into workshops, demonstrations, movement, discussion, and student-led activity. This part of the day is built for people who want to try things, ask questions, compare experiences, and see physiotherapy across different generations of ESP.
The final afternoon workshops and activities include:
- Campus Scavenger Hunt: teamwork, speed and a little competitive spirit, organised by current ESP students.
- Elderly Suit Experience: a fast track to empathy and a chance to experience movement from a different perspective, organised by Jan Jaap.
- Social Run: join the pace that suits you, from hare to turtle, organised by Maarten.
- Markerless Motion Capture: discover how technology can sharpen your clinical eye, organised by Nils.
- VR Lab: step into immersive learning and explore how virtual reality can support health education and movement learning, organised by the Library Team.
- Diversity and Inclusion: supporting international students in clinical practice, organised by Miriam.
- Muscle Echography: making the invisible visible, organised by David.
- ESP25 Meet’n Greet: no slides, no assignments, just people. A relaxed networking space for anyone who wants to reconnect, meet others, and be part of the ESP25 afternoon without joining a formal workshop.
- The Backwards Brain Bicycle: can you ride it? A hands-on challenge organised by Glenn Rosenquist.
The afternoon closes from 15:30-15:45, followed by coffee and networking from 15:45-16:30.
Programme note: practical details such as room allocation and workshop capacity may still be refined as final arrangements are completed. The direction is already clear: the afternoon is active, practical, and built for participation.
Current students: see ESP beyond the classroom.
Alumni: meet the next generation and see what they are learning, questioning, and bringing into the profession.

THE ESP COMMUNITY
For alumni, ESP25 is a reason to come back and reconnect with people, places, and stories that still matter. For current students, it is a chance to meet the wider ESP network beyond the classroom. For staff, former colleagues, clinical instructors, partners, and invited guests, it is a chance to celebrate the impact of a programme built through people, practice, and education.
